Ingredients

  • 1 large head cauliflower cut into small florets
  • 1 pound cremini mushrooms sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Prepare the Cauliflower and Mushrooms: Wash and cut the cauliflower into small, bite-sized florets. Slice the cremini mushrooms.
  • Sauté Garlic: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  • Cook the Cauliflower: Add the cauliflower florets to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they begin to soften and lightly brown.
  • Add Mushrooms: Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet with the cauliflower. Continue to cook for another 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are tender and have released their moisture.
  • Season and Finish: Stir in the chopped parsley and red pepper flakes (if using). Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Cook for another minute to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Serve: Transfer the garlic mushrooms and cauliflower to a serving dish. Serve hot as a side dish or appetizer.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a squeeze of lemon juice before serving. You can also substitute other types of mushrooms, such as shiitake or oyster mushrooms. Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to your preference.
